Devoted to all lovers of cinema!!!

Timur Bekmambetov

I decided to write about Timur Bekmambetov, because nowadays he is one of the most popular and talented and successful Kazakhstani-Russian producer. In spring 2007, he was nominated on “Cinematographist of the year” and won!! Among nominators there were such famous producers as Rustem Abdrashev, Igor Gonopolskii, Satybaldy Narymbetov and Murat Nugmanov. But unfortunatily, now he is living in Russia, and all his films he shoots in Russia and abroad. He was the director of 2004 film “Night Watch”(Nochnoi Dozor), a popular Russian fantasy film based on the book by Sergei Lukyanenko, and its sequel, Day Watch (2006). These two films had a great success as in Russia, as here- in Kazakhstan.

Saying about his biography, Timur Bekmambetov was born on the 25th of June, 1961 in Guryev (present Atyrau, Kazakhstan). From 1979 till 1980 he studied in Moscow Airline University. Also, in 1987, Timur ended faculty of painting of Tashkent Unoversity of theatre and painting. Later, as painter was working in theatre “Ilkhom”. After that Timur decided to go to Moscow. There, he began to shoot music and advertising videos. In 1994 Timur Bekmambetov founded studio, called “Imperial-film”, then in 1999 created a company- “Bazelevs”. He became popular as producer after shooting a series of advertising videos for bank “Imperial” (1992-1997), which were awarded by many prizes of different international festivals of advertisement. Also, popular producer were shooting advertisement for such big companies as “Pepsi”, “Seldom”, also for bank “Slavyanskii”. In 2000, Timur began to shoot 3 video clips for popular Russian singer- Ulii Chicherinoi. One of the clips called “Zhara” got a prize from Russian Film Academy and was nominated on “MTV Music Awards-2000”. This year was really successful for Timur, because he also became a member of Russian Academy od Advertisement.

Nowadays, Timur Bekmambetov is working in Los Angeles. Also, he is shooting a film, called “Wanted” with such famous Hollywood artists as Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy. And, one of the interesting news, I have learned about him, is that recently, producer shooted the 2nd part of the legendary film “Irintya sud’by: prodolzhenie” with famous artists, that were playing in previous part of the film!!! We will be waiting for his premiers!! I thing it will be something interesting!!!

Advert 1st Of All

ad-fest-logo.gif                                                       dsc07685.jpgOn the 16 th of November students of KIMEP had a chance to go to the fesatival of advertisement. It was called “Advert 1st Of All”. This festival was organized by crEAteam organization together with Black Pencil marketing company and Sun production. As I am the member of this organization I want to say that event of such format, we have made by the first time, because usually we organize different parties.

First of all, our team decided not to make a great advertising in KIMEP, because it was oriented mostly on students of marketing and journalism(PR) departments, because this festival was closely connected with their future profession. We created and then sent invintations with names and surnames of each student of this two departments.

The program began at 20:07 o’clock and was continued during 2 hours. The program contained presentation of Black Pencil company, where the representative was Marat Bakpayev. He gives lectures in KIMEP Univesity on Advertising Management . It was the interesting presentation with explaining how creativity is important in our professions. Then, we observed some advertising videos. After it, the next presentation was made by the representative of Sun Production company. He explained students how to make advertising videos and then showed a seria of Kazakhstani advertising videos- the work of their company. Together, they explained the role of Kazakhstani advertisement, it’s development and the ways of improving. I think, that students liked it, because at the end, there were a lot of questions.

So, in my point of view the festival of advertising was successful!!!! We were glad to organize and work with such a big and popular partners as Black Pencil and Sun Production. And students were glad to be there, because the atmosphere of the evening was calm and pleasant. In future, we are planning to organize events of such format!!! It was our first experiement and we will try to do them more better and more interesting!!!

My impressions about the film

Recently, I went to “Arman” to watch the film, about I have wrote- “Racketeer”. First of all I want to say, that my impressions are only good!!! I liked it, because the film was a good reflection of events of that times-80-90 years. It was the times when many people became to open their own business. To work better, without any problems, racketeers were glad to help them, of course for the special part of money!!!

It was pleasant to observe Almaty town, everything was so acquainted!!! The heroes had the same characters , behavior and conversations , as we can observe  in real life. May be it is just because the film is Kazakhstani! We have not so many films, shooted in Kazakhstan, so  all people were watching “Racketeer” with the great pleasure, as I am!

But of course, as all films ”Racketeer” has it’s bad sides. Personaly I did not like the role of the main hero, because It was seemed that the main hero was Ruslan-the best friend of Sayan. Mostly, I liked the playing of Ruslan. He did his role very well I think!!! The second thing, that I didn’t like is that all phrases were short and brief.

So, in conclusion I want to say that in generally the film was good!!! I liked it! Of course, saying about Kazakhstani film industry, it should develop and perfect itself more and more!!!

Coming Soon!!!!! The Kazakhstani project “Racketeer” (Рэкетир)

moviepicture6.jpgOn the 8th of November will be the premier of Kazakhstani film called “Racketeer”.                                               kaz_129_46.jpg

The producer of the project is Akhan Sataev. He is not so popular, because before the film, he was the shooter of only advertising videos. The budget is not so big, only 800.000$, but creators of the film have great hopes on this project. They are planning to show this film in all cinemas of Kazakhstan, Almaty is not exception!!! Also, in plans was to screen this film in Russia and to produce it on DVD disks on Kazakh and Russian languages. And one of the interesting things is that the soundtrack to the film is done by the young, but popular group “Métis”. The song is called “Bez sna”. Moreover, in the film you can observe one of the popular Russian actors- Vladimir Vdovichenkov (“Paragraph 78”, “Bummer 1”, and “Bummer 2”).So, are you already interested in it???? And want to know what about this film???

The genre of the “Racketeer”, as you have guessed from the name, is criminal drama. The story is about life of young man, whose name is Sayan. He is a boxer that hoping with the help of force and fists come to the better life!!! For some times this way is very good and progressive, but what will be then??? As we know, for all there is its price and we should pay for our mistakes. So…. if you want to know what will be with the main hero at the end, go to the cinema on 8th of November!!!! Will be waiting for your recessions!!!!

Do you want to know more information about “Mongol” film???? Go here

October 3, 2007 Posted by | Kazkahstani movies | Leave a comment

542694.gif542694.gif542694.gifI have seen this film, and to be honestly I was dissapointed after watching it! “Why?”,- you will ask. As we all  know, PR of the film “Mongol” was amazing!!! Almost everyone was speaking about it, everyone was waiting for it! And I was not an exclusion! But as for me, I was waiting for something more effective, more exciting, because the slogan was “Soon the whole world will shudder from the name of Genghis Khan!!!”. It sounds very gripping and fascinating, really??? But the story was peacefull, without any terrible fights, without his historic gains. It recounted the early life of Genghis Khan who was a slave before going on to conquer half the world, also about his love and faithful wife Borte. In my point of view the audience was not waiting for this.

But i liked how “Mongol” was shooted. All actors played well, costumes were great, traditions of mongols were completely obeyed. The budget of the film comes to 15 million euro!!! Also I am happy to know that it is a major international co-production with the participation of Russia, Germany, Kazakhstan and the USA. Finally it was partly shooted in Kazakhstan. And if we take professional side of the film, we can see that Sergei Bodrov made him good, really good. The film’s editor is Zach Staenberg, the winner of an Oscar for “The Matrix”, can you believe???

So, it was my opinion, but how many people, as many opinions!!! look it, if you want to know more about history, about traditions of Asian people and about Genghis Khan’s early life!
